We know there’s something special about a wedding day, though, which is why we care so much about the hair and makeup we do for brides and their “tribes!” Today, we’re talking all things bridal hair as we introduce you to one of our stylists, Makensie. While Makensie is a stylist for more than just brides, she specializes in updos and braids and has wisdom to share for any brides getting ready to pick their hair and makeup vendor for their upcoming wedding.
GET TO KNOW MAKENSIE
When Makensie was a teenager doing her sister’s hair for her wedding, she realized she had found her path. She loved being involved in the special day and helping her feel her best, and knew she wanted to do that for others. She is a graduate from the Aveda Institute in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, making her move to Posh a perfect fit. Having been in the industry since 2012 and at Posh for almost two years as a stylist, she loves the process that goes into making her clients feel confident and beautiful.
Most recently, as we shared on our social media yesterday, Makensie had the opportunity to do bridal hair for a local Virginia magazine feature. Makensie’s main goal when it comes to bridal hair is making the bride feel relaxed, beautiful, and confident for the big day. When she’s not at the salon, she enjoys hanging out with her family and friends as well as cuddling and playing with all of her beloved pets. She is happiest anywhere near the water and is so grateful to be a part of the Posh family and get to work with amazing brides and clients.

TO TRIAL OR NOT TO TRIAL?
Trial…always trial! For Makensie, she says trials are an integral part of choosing your bridal hair look. Before the trial, brides and their stylists will start with a consultation to talk through what styles the bride has in mind. To help, brides can bring in different photos, picking out parts of each style that they like best. They can talk through choosing a veil or hair piece, which should also be brought in during the trial if possible.
“Even if it’s just curls you want, it’s worth your time and investment to do a trial. We’ll be able to make sure your hair stays all day in the style you desire. Just in case your dream style isn’t what’s perfect for your hair type or length, we’ll get to play with multiple different styles during a trial to achieve the perfect one.” – Makensie
THE DAY OF
On the big day, get ready to feel pampered! Whether you’re having our stylists come to you or you’re coming into Posh, we make the day stress-free and fun. If the bride is also getting their makeup done by Posh, the order of the appointments will be determined based on whether or not the hair needs to be washed prior to the appointment or if there will be hair hanging down in the face. The order of that will be decided during the consultation so that you can feel confident with a fresh face of makeup and the hair of your dreams.

WHAT TO WEAR TO YOUR APPOINTMENT
To avoid messing up your beautiful hair or updo, Makensie recommends wearing a button up shirt to your appointment. This way, after you leave, you’ll be able to easily change into an even MORE important outfit…your dress!
