We came across a blog this week that really stood out to us. The article was called “Here is the Truth About What it Means to be a Hairdresser.” You can read the entire article here. In honor of that, we wanted to share a little bit about what it means to be a Stylist here at Posh! We love what we do, and we love getting to share our creative expression with you all each day we’re open.
BEING A STYLIST TAKES WORK
This is not just physical, but mental, too. Physically, our bodies are put through many hours on our feet, manipulating our head, neck, and arms so we can make sure we’re able to do the best work possible. Many days, we go way too long without remembering to eat lunch or drink water. But we do it because we love it…and you being in our chair is our priority.
Mentally, being a stylist takes commitment. Our heads are always full of ideas and new techniques. When you show us a photo of what you want or tell us some of the details about your future hair, we want to make sure that we’re able to get you as close to it as possible. In order to be able to do this, it takes education. Our stylists are all trained before they come to us at Posh…but education doesn’t just stop there. With regularly scheduled trainings and opportunities for continued education, our stylists are committed to learning new skills, staying up to date with trends, and being open to new techniques.
IT’S ALL ABOUT THE DETAILS
We focus on the details, because we want you to leave feeling better than when you came in. When it comes to choosing the products and tools we use, we keep in mind the different hair types that will come through our door and the different requests each guest will have. Over time, we learn what tools we love best and we invest in them so that we can serve you best. Our stations show who we are as a stylist, and we’re proud of the Aveda products we get to use on our guests because they are products we believe in.
Details are everywhere around the salon, allowing us to do our jobs best. From the ecoheads water nozzles in the shampoo area to the impressive color technology software in our color mixing area, we’ve created a place where we can be artists while helping you achieve your desired look. On top of getting pampered, we try our best to make you feel relaxed with Aveda-specific details like hand massages with color treatments and scalp massages.
EACH TEAM MEMBER PLAYS A ROLE
From our Guest Relations staff at the very front of the salon to the stylists in the back juggling doing hair and keeping the salon neat and tidy, we’re all in this business to make others feel great. Working at a salon allows us to make an impact on others, welcome new people into our home away from home, and help people feel beautiful. Whether you’re coming in for a skin care treatment, hair service, or just to shop our Aveda products, we’ve got a team that wants to help you and care for you. We’re glad you’re here!

Our team is a warm, tight-knit crew that supports one another while making work fun. On that note, we are currently looking for a part-time Guest Relations team member! We’d love to find a flexible team member who is welcoming, eager to help, and able to work in an ever-changing environment. At the front desk, you’ll be responsible for communicating with clients new and current in a variety of ways along with checking guests out after their service.
